Cancer patients are often not diagnosed until symptoms are observed. This can in many cases, especially for aggressive and difficult to treat cancers, be too late. As cancer cells often are released into the blood circulation before symptoms are detected, it would be of great value to be able to detect these cancer cells in an early phase of the disease. This project will generate increased knowledge about the circulating tumor cells and the metastasis process, and ultimately lead to new methods for substantially earlier detection of cancer than can be done today.
This project is a collaborative effort together with Professor Anette Gjörloff Wingren at Malmö Högskola, Phase Holographic Imaging, ImaGene-iT, Lund University, and Umeå University, financed by the Knowledge Foundation (Swe: KK-Stiftelsen) and the participating companies.
